Committee reviewing proposal for full tertiary subsidisation
A ministerial committee reviewing the student financial aid scheme has proposed full subsidisation of poor students' tertiary institution fees.
The committee found that underfunding is one of the main factors contributing to high drop out rates at higher learning institutions.
Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande released the committee's report on Tuesday.
"The underfunding is a contributing factor to the high attrition rate in our tertiary institutions," he said.
