Johannesburg - Molemo "Jub Jub" Maarohanye and Themba Tshabalala were speeding on the wrong side of the road when they struck a group of children, the Protea Magistrate's Court heard on Wednesday.
Accident reconstruction expert Renier Balt told the court Maarohanye and Tshabalala were driving towards oncoming traffic.
They swerved to the left to avoid crashing. In doing so, they struck and killed four boys and injured two.
In cross-examination, Maarohanye's lawyer, Ike Motloung, said Balt's conclusions were biased because he had opted not to interview two passengers in the Mini Coopers.
He had also been influenced by media reports and other witnesses' statements.
Balt responded: "Physical evidence was enough to form an opinion."
Maarohanye and Tshabalala face charges of murder, attempted murder, and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
They were allegedly drag racing when one of their cars ploughed into a group of children on Mdlalose Road, in Protea North, Soweto, on March 8 2010, killing four boys and injuring two.
